Welcome to A Cynical Perspective.
About Me
I had a four decade career in the Information Technology (IT) sector performing software development, business analysis, team leadership, process improvement, and project management.
To non-IT (regular) people, who may not understand the nuances of those job functions, my role was to solve problems. All technical or process solutions are implemented to solve business or personnel problems.
I have seen a lot of problems in four decades!!!
(If you want a deeper understanding of my background, Read This.)
Value For You
Hey, I’m under no illusion that I can help everyone. You may already know everything, have a successful career and good personal relationships, be too busy to invest the time and effort to improve yourself, or not believe incremental 1% improvements lead to success. I get it — no need to make excuses…. ….just ignore my writing, move along, and continue with your life.
If you are a life-long learner and want to improve yourself and your results, then I provide a unique, insightful point of view based on Cynical Theory, Science, Logic, and Common Sense.
Future articles will explain in depth what Cynical Theory is - I can’t do it justice with a brief overview in this article. [TL;DR: It is the explanation of complex human behaviour - that is, why people do what they do - in simple terms.]
As a computer nerd, my world is based on Science and Logic. The physical world obeys the laws of nature and responds to cause and effect. People who do not act, or make decisions, in congruence with those laws, set themselves up for a world of hurt.
Finally, Common Sense is the ability to understand what to do — and then doing it. I’m sure you know someone who has demonstrated the lack thereof!!!
Cynical Theory, Science, Logic, and Common Sense intersects with everything you think and do. I use these four dimensions to analyze, identify problems, and propose solutions that you can adopt to improve your personal and professional life.

PS: NEXT STEPS
Medium is great if your goal is to read random articles for diversion, amusement, or entertainment.
If YOUR GOAL is TO LEARN, then my articles on a particular topic are best read in a specific order. Medium’s algorithm may have dropped you into the middle of a series; if you want to understand the topic thoroughly (or what the heck I’m babbling about!!!) you should start at the beginning:
- Cynical Methodology: Good News - Everything Is a Problem.
