The Digital Age has morphed into the Cynical Age.

The characteristics of the Cynical Age are:

  • increased selfishness
  • short attention span
  • overt manipulation
  • lack of principles
  • lack of character
  • knowledge replaced by influence
  • lack of common sense

Western societies are suffering from the detrimental effects of the Cynical Age.

The gatekeepers of the digital information flow (Facebook, Google, X, et al.) have manipulated people for their business benefit (to make money). As a result, people have become sheeple - being influenced by others.

Thinking and reasoning for oneself is lost to "influencers." Science and logic are no longer guiding principles. Ultimately, common sense disappears.

For many, personal responsibility is replaced by the "blame game."

Business and political leaders no longer lead. Decisions are made based on convenience, immediate rewards, and irresponsible selfishness.

The result is Cynical Lemmings who follow the rest of the "tribe". They undermine societal values, principles, and, as we've witnessed, the very essence of democracy.

Cynical Theory is a set of six axioms that explain human motivation and behavior in layman's terms. It is a framework and a guide to understanding motivation and behavior in your personal and professional life.
