Regular people (non-IT) may not understand the nuances of those job functions. His role was to solve problems. Every day, he delivered technical or process solutions which resolved business and personnel problems.

The Cynical Guru has seen a lot of problems in four decades!!!

Life-Long Learner

Gary has always had enormous curiosity. He pondered the world, how it worked, and why. It wasn't just the things that could be explained easily by science or logic but also the unpredictable nature of people.

He loved people and learning from everyone he met. He studied people and codified Cynical Theory to explain motivation and behavior.

Educator

Gary loves to help people. Since he understood a broad scope of subjects, others sought his insight to solve their problems. His extensive knowledge and holistic perspective resulted in creative solutions.

It was his responsibility to help people by sharing as much knowledge as anyone was willing to learn. He studied the principles of education with a particular focus on adult learning. Throughout his professional career, he utilized those skills to help customers, clients, and peers.

Guru

Gary sought to understand the bigger perspective of worldly operations by gathering knowledge in diverse subjects.

Knowledge in and of itself provides a base of understanding. However, combining life experience and maturity allowed Gary to add depth of understanding to create wisdom.

A graph showing how, over time, Learning leads to an accumulation of Knowledge, and Experience lead to accumulation of Wisdom. Also illustrates that the accumulation of knowledge slope is very steep when you are young, but accumulation of wisdom lags and doesn't become steeper until after the age of 30.

As illustrated above, the gap between accumulated wisdom and knowledge narrows as you mature.

The Cynical Guru provides his accumulated wisdom to help others help themselves.
