Who Is The Cynical Guru?

The agent who came in from the cold.
I am The Cynical Guru because I created Cynical Theory.
Cynical Theory explains all human motivation with 6 simple maxims. It is based on my observations of people.
I have applied the scientific method to validate my theory against all observable human situations and endeavors. I have debated my theory with philosophers. It has withstood all examination and criticism.
But...the elephant in the room is the word "cynical." If that word makes you uncomfortable or evokes a negative response, it is understandable. You have been exposed to that word only in the most negative context. So naturally, that word may disturb you.
There are TWO meanings for the word "cynical." The common usage in modern times means you distrust or don't believe someone. When you say you are "cynical about a politician's intentions," it means that you "distrust" them or "don't believe" them. If you say, "I am cynical," you are suspicious, skeptical, or have doubts.
When I use the word "cynical", my intention is the second meaning, which is lesser known and used. The second meaning is a belief that people are "motivated primarily by self-interest."
My use of the word "cynical" is synonymous with "selfish."
I believe that all human motivation arises from selfishness.
Of course, that statement may make you uncomfortable. I'm OK with that. I've observed that people become unsettled when confronted with hard truths. I tell uncomfortable truths to shock people out of groupthink.
Many people react emotionally because they think that selfishness is an unacceptable character trait. But that isn't so. Selfishness is the motivating factor that enabled our species to survive. It is embedded in our DNA. Civilization has tried to tame selfishness with rules of behavior, but it still exists within each of us.
That is why we watch and compete in games or sports with enthusiasm. It is the fundamental basis of capitalism and our economic system. It is the core drive within each of us.
Cynical Theory recognizes selfishness as a factor in daily life. With that knowledge, you can navigate and accomplish your Life Quests efficiently, effectively, and ethically.
